Downspout Extension Calculator
Estimate extension length and pieces for multiple downspouts.
How to use this calculator
- Measure the project or enter costs from a current quote or product label.
- Adjust the quantities, coverage, package size, and allowances to match your situation.
- Select Calculate, then check the method, worked example, and limitations below.
Formula and method
Total length = downspouts × run length × (1 + allowance%). Divide by piece length and round up.
Whole packages and pieces are rounded up. Results disappear when an input changes until the new values are calculated.
Worked example
Downspouts 4 downspouts; Planned run per downspout 8 ft; Extra length 10 %; Piece length 10 ft. Results: Extension length 35.2 ft; Whole pieces 4 pieces.
The example uses the values initially displayed in the fields.
