Frequency Converter
CONVERSION CALCULATOR
Convert frequency between millihertz, hertz, kilohertz, megahertz, gigahertz, terahertz, revolutions per minute, and beats per minute.
Converted valueCalculating…
Conversion rateCalculating…
How it works
All values are converted through hertz, which represents cycles per second. Per-minute rates are divided by 60.
Conversion formula
1 Hz = 1 cycle per second. Hz = cycles per minute ÷ 60.
Worked example
3,600 revolutions per minute equals 60 hertz.
Important limits
- RPM and BPM can be treated as frequency only when each revolution or beat represents one complete repeating cycle.
- Clock rates do not by themselves determine device performance.
- This converter handles frequency, not wavelength; wavelength also requires propagation speed.
Frequently asked questions
How many RPM equal one hertz?
Sixty revolutions per minute equal one revolution per second, or 1 Hz.
What does MHz mean?
One megahertz equals one million cycles per second.
Review notes
Hertz uses the SI definition of one cycle per second; per-minute units use exactly 60 seconds. Last reviewed September 30, 2026.
