How it works
Total coated area is divided by the manufacturer’s spread rate and increased by extra allowance. The exact volume is rounded up to whole kits.
Formula
Gallons = floor area × coats ÷ coverage × (1 + extra)
Kits = round up(gallons ÷ kit size)
Important limits
- Primer, base coat, color coat, and topcoat may be separate products with different coverage.
- Porous or damaged concrete can consume more coating.
- Mix ratios, pot life, temperature, moisture testing, and surface preparation are product-specific.
Frequently asked questions
Does the result include primer?
Only if you treat primer as one of the entered coats and it has the same coverage. Usually it should be estimated separately.
Why round to full kits?
Two-part coatings must be mixed at the specified ratio and are commonly sold as complete kits.
