Garden Bed Edging Calculator
Calculate edging length and rolls for matching rectangular garden beds.
How to use this calculator
- Measure the project or enter costs from a current quote or product label.
- Adjust the quantities, coverage, package size, and allowances to match your situation.
- Select Calculate, then check the method, worked example, and limitations below.
Formula and method
Total border = beds × 2 × (length + width). Add cutting allowance and divide by roll length, rounding up.
Whole packages and pieces are rounded up. Results disappear when an input changes until the new values are calculated.
Worked example
Beds 4 beds; Bed length 8 ft; Bed width 4 ft; Cutting allowance 10 %; Edging per roll 50 ft. Results: Edging length 105.6 ft; Whole rolls 3 rolls.
The example uses the values initially displayed in the fields.
