GPA Calculator
EDUCATION CALCULATOR
Calculate a credit-weighted grade point average on a common 4.0 scale.
| Course | Credits | Grade |
|---|---|---|
| Course 1 | ||
| Course 2 | ||
| Course 3 | ||
| Course 4 |
How it works
For each course, choose the letter grade and enter its credit value. The calculator multiplies grade points by credits, totals them, and divides by total credits.
Formula
GPA = total quality points ÷ total attempted credits; quality points = course credits × grade-point value.
Worked example
Grades A, B+, A−, and B across 3, 4, 3, and 2 credits produce 42.3 quality points over 12 credits, or a 3.53 GPA.
Important limits
- Schools may use different plus/minus values, weighting, repeat-course, pass/fail, and rounding rules.
- This common 4.0 scale is not an official transcript calculation.
- High-school weighted GPA policies can exceed 4.0 and are not represented here.
Frequently asked questions
Does an A+ count above 4.0?
