Rhombus Area Calculator
MATH & GEOMETRY CALCULATOR
Calculate rhombus area, side length, and perimeter from its diagonals.
Use the same length unit throughout. All fields are required. Enter full diagonals. A general quadrilateral does not necessarily satisfy these assumptions.
How to use this calculator
Enter your dimensions and select Calculate. Length results use your input unit, areas use its square, and volumes use its cube. Retain measurement precision until the final answer.
Formula and explanation
Area = d₁d₂/2; side = √(d₁²+d₂²)/2; perimeter = 4 × side
Rhombus diagonals bisect each other at right angles, forming four right triangles.
Worked example
For First diagonal (units) = 6, Second diagonal (units) = 8, results are Area (square units): 24; Side length (units): 5; Perimeter (units): 20.
Important limitations
Enter full diagonals. A general quadrilateral does not necessarily satisfy these assumptions.
Ideal geometry does not account for manufacturing tolerances or measurement uncertainty. This is a calculation aid, not a structural design or building-code approval. Absolute inputs must not exceed one trillion.
Frequently asked questions
Is a square a rhombus?
Yes; equal diagonals produce a square.
Are diagonals the edges?
No; each diagonal joins opposite corners.
Can I mix inches and centimeters?
Convert all lengths to one unit first. Mixed units produce incorrect results.
Why did my result disappear?
Blank, invalid, or out-of-range inputs clear the previous result and display an instruction.
