Pet Boarding Cost Calculator
Build a boarding estimate from the number of pets, nightly price, stay length, fees, and tax.
How to use this calculator
- Replace the example values with your own measurements, schedule, prices, or media settings.
- Keep each value in the unit printed beside its field.
- Select Calculate and review every result together with the assumptions below.
Formula and method
Boarding charges = pets × nightly rate × nights. Subtotal adds one-time fees; tax = subtotal × tax rate; total = subtotal + tax.
Calculations run in your browser. Results are hidden whenever an input changes or validation fails, preventing an old answer from being mistaken for the current calculation.
Worked example
Number of pets = 2; Nightly rate per pet = 45 $; Nights = 5; One-time fees = 30 $; Tax rate = 8 %. The calculator returns Boarding charges = $450.00; Subtotal before tax = $480.00; Estimated tax = $38.40; Estimated total = $518.40; Total per pet = $259.20.
The worked example uses the same default values shown in the interface, so the displayed result and explanation can be checked directly.
Limitations
Facilities may price shared rooms, medication, holidays, late pickup, deposits and cancellation differently. Confirm the written quote and care requirements with the provider.
Use the result as a planning estimate. Confirm prices, policies, equipment ratings, units and professional requirements that apply to your situation.
Frequently asked questions
Does the calculator assume pets share a room?
No. It applies the entered nightly rate to every pet. If a facility gives a combined rate, enter one pet and use that combined rate.
Why does the calculator reject my entry?
Each field shows its supported range. Whole-number fields reject decimals, and all fields reject blanks, words, comma-formatted numbers, fractions and non-finite values.
How should I round the result?
Keep extra digits while planning, then round to the precision supported by your inputs, package sizes, billing rules or equipment settings.
